The Walled City of Baku:

Momine Khatin Mausoleum


Momine Khatin Mausoleum is a monument of historical importance located in the city of Nakhchivan in Azerbaijan. The mausoleum was built in the 12th century and is one of the best examples of medieval Islamic architecture in Azerbaijan.


The monument is dedicated to Momine Khatin, the wife of the popular Azerbaijani poet and philosopher Nizami Ganjavi. The landmark is decorated with a complex geometric pattern and includes quotes from the Koran.


Juma Mosque, the First Mosque in Azerbaijan


The first mosque, Juma Mosque is located in the city of Shamakhi. The mosque is one of the oldest historical buildings, dating back to the 8th century AD. The design is unique, with a rectangular prayer hall, and the interior decorated with intricate stucco carvings and calligraphy.


Noah’s Tomb


Noah's Tomb is located in the city of Nakhchivan in Azerbaijan. The tomb is made of stone and covered with a dome. It is located on a hill and is surrounded by a large courtyard. This historical monument is believed by many to be the final resting place of the prophet Noah, the prophet known for building the ark that saved him and his family from the great flood.


Atashgah Fire Temple:


The ancient religious site located in the city of Baku, Azerbaijan,  is dedicated to the Zoroastrian god of fire. It is considered to be one of the most important Zoroastrian sites in the world.


The temple was built in the 17th century by Indians with the Zoroastrian faith. Its unique architecture features a central altar with a flame that has been burning for hundreds of years. The flame is fueled by natural gas that seeps out of the ground.
